What Types of Sedation Do You Offer?
In the following video, Vahid Bashi, DDS, explains the different options we offer to alleviate mild to severe dental anxiety.
Many patients inquire about the types of sedation we offer for dental procedures. For the majority of the procedures I perform, I typically use standard local anesthesia, similar to what is used for fillings, root canals, or tooth extractions. Local anesthesia is effective and sufficient for approximately 90% of our patients.
In addition to local anesthesia, we also offer nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” which is administered in our office. Nitrous oxide can be particularly helpful for individuals who experience nervousness or stress during dental procedures.
For patients who may have more significant anxiety, I can prescribe sedative pills that you can take before your appointment. These medications help you relax before the procedure begins. However, if you opt for prescription sedation, it’s important to note that you will need someone to accompany you to the appointment and drive you back afterward, as your ability to drive will be impaired.
We understand that dental anxiety is a common concern, and we offer a range of sedation options to make your dental experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Feel free to discuss your preferences and concerns with us, and we will work together to determine the most suitable sedation method for your needs.
